Several years ago my husband, David, started talking about wanting to see the Redwood Forrest. It was his dream. As time passed we talked about it more and more. In 2003 our beautiful twin girls were born and all of our dreams seemed to change to carseats and college funds. As the girls grew and we began to take weekend trips and annual vacations. This dream came alive again. But we wanted to wait till the girls were old enough and would really remember it. And at this point we not only wanted to see the Redwood Forrest, but Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, and California. Through the course of life events we began homeschooling when the girls were 6 and this dream became an educational choice to teach them American History. Today, our girls our nine and we plan to leave on our Road Trip USA this fall.
I have two reasons for writing this blog. As you can probably tell I am no expert at this blogging thing. First, I want to share our experience with our family and friends who want to travel along with us on this adventure. Second, one of my daughters has Cerebal Palsy and uses a wheelchair to get around. We have noticed that when we travel there are places that are "accessible" by legal standards, and there are places that are more than accessible. Some places make our visit delightful for my daughter. Some places are just not accessible by any standard. I would like to share our experiences with this so that perhaps someone might find the informationn helpful.
